I will flip out if there is a bonus disc available only in the box set.

| DOH! It looked like Frodo holding an Oscar with Peter Jackson looking on behind him. Hence, I thought it was a fanboy prank. |
I thought it looked more like a gold glowing penis in his hand!! (Didn't it glow blue in the movie?)
And, that picture of Sam really doesn't look much like Astin. I don't know that I ever saw that poster before. There were so many.
Anyone else think it's funny to see an announcement for the DVD announcement?

Sting, his sword, glows blue. In the poster/cover art he's holding the phial of light given to him by Galadriel, which he uses to light up Shelob's Lair.

I know what he's supposed to be holding. I just don't remember it glowing gold in the movie. Then again, I only saw it twice. Perhaps it did. Wouldn't be the first time a poster got the color of something different from what appeared in the movie.
Isn't it called "The Light of...." or something?

| On another Rumor Mill-worthy Rings note, the Galactic Hunter website (a Star Wars toy collecting site) has posted an image that's been circulating around the net (see above left). It's a Rings tie-in promotion sign from this year's Toy Fair. Of note on the sign is notice that The Lord of the Rings DVD Trilogy is coming in 2005. This likely means a box set of all three extended editions, along with some new material (rumored to be a bonus disc of additional deleted scenes that weren't restored to the films for the longer versions). A box set release is logical and should come as no surprise to anyone, but again nothing is official until New Line announces it. |
Hmmm... Not happy at all..Thanks George.. I mean Peter!
I guess it has just begun.

I'm not going to get angry about a box set bonus disc until such time as it is announced and it is made clear that those of us who already bought the EEs will be SOL and can't buy it without having to triple dip. Until then, it's just a rumor.
As for double dipping, I'm all over it, just like the first two films. And I still need to go see ROTK one last time in the theater. Maybe this weekend, since this is the last weekend my wife and I will both have entirely free until April.

Yeah, New Line has been spectacular about treating the fans right with all the releases to date. I'm not going to get too upset about this phantom "bonus disc" thing until there's something more official.

A Norwegian site claims to have the official coverart for the Norwegian distributor SF. Check it out here.
It also states the special features on disc 2 as:
IN-DEPTH PROGRAMS:
- The Quest Fulfilled: A Director's Vision
- A Filmmaker's Journey: Making The Return of the King
- National Geographic Special
FEATURETTES:
- Aragorn's Destiny
- Minas Tirith: Capital of Gondor
- The Battle of Pelennor Fields
- Samwise the Brave
- Éowyn: White Lady of Rohan
- Digital Horse Doubles
- Trailer & TV-spots
- The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Supertrailer
- A special look at EA´s videogame
Even though it looks more legit than the previous fake R2UK cover I´m still not sure as I would expect the Annie Lennox musicvideo and a Preview of ROTK EE to be included.

Toss in those two Niklas and I think you've got it dead on. This is one I won't be surprised by at all, I could have given you the artwork a few months ago. The only question is what the picture on the back will be of and what wording the plot summary will use.
