Pacino Collection... Special Editions?
When will the Pacino films get proper Special Edition treatment??
I've sold most of my current barebones, cheap snapper discs in hopes of soemthing better...
'Serpico'
'Dog Day Afternoon'
'Scent Of A Woman'
'Carlito's Way'
'Heat'
'The Devil's Advocate'
Does anyone know if anything is being planned?

Carlito's Way is suppossed to be out, but I still can't find it in stores.
Heat has been announced for R2 already this year - there's a thread somewhere. I think R1 is not far behind.
I'm with you on wanting the rest of them though!

Seeing as how Carlito's Way got rereleased as a Collector's Edition, I wouldn't expect anything further to be done for that one anytime soon. I would love to see special editions for Scent Of A Woman and Heat though.

Rumor has it that Heat is on WB's Slate for a special edition to be released sometime this year (July)

Since Paramount very rarely double dips, the chance of a new Serpico DVD is extremely unlikely.
Besides, the current DVD is not barebones - there's three 5-10 minute docs that give some nice behind the scenes and retrospective insight from director Sidney Lumet and producer Martin Bregman.
Sure, it isn't a loaded DVD, but the A/V transfer is pretty damn good for an early 70's film.

Well as long as Warner re-issues these titles I'll be happy. I just want to get rid of those horrible snappers!
They'll probably do something with "Heat" and "Dog Day Afternoon" but I hope they re-issue "The Devil's Advocate" as well in a proper keep case.
I wish they'd also do something better for "Interview With A Vampire", one of my favorite movies.
I don't understand why they can't just use proper keepcases like every other studio...

I wish The Devil's Advocate would be re-issued without the damned forced commentary over the deleted senes! Whats the point of putting dialogue heavy deleted scenes on the disc and then forcing us to listen to the director talk over them, which means not hearing said dialogue. While the commentary is interesting (though he does complain about having to make the cuts a lot), I'm more interested in the scenes themselves than what he has to say about them.
Heck, they could put the scenes back in if they want, since the director seems to resent cutting them so much.
Great Pacino performance, btw.
I\'ve seen things you people wouldn\'t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those... moments will be lost in time like ...tears... in rain. Time... to die.\"

You're correct, but these SEs are expected to be released in R1 as well. Although, maybe I was wrong about June

It's likely that those titles above that haven't yet been released in R1 will debut here later in 2004 as well
