Re: Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State SEs due 5/4 (but POSTPONED)
With all due respect, Mr. Harris, not many people are jumping with foam at their mouths onto the HD format(s). It will have to be settled first for me personally to start investing in hardware and software (meaning, one format must prevail). Secondly, there is no hardware right now to fully take advantage of all that HD/BR discs offer (no compatible audio hardware). Thirdly, I fully expect these dueling formats to not last very long, as much, much better formats are already feasible.

Much better formats will always be feasible.
The idea that I prefer is Warner's concept of providing both SD and HD formats on a single disc. My point was more oriented toward allowing the consumer to purchase current product which will be playable on at
least one of the systems, at which time the consumer decides to upgrade.
I'm fully on board and waiting for the home version of 2k, but I don't really see a market for it. One of the caveats would be larger homes in which to place the theaters. This would cost a bit more than a player. The nominal 100" screen really has no need of 2k or above.

OK, we're less than a week out on the Crimson Tide, Con Air and Enemy of the State SEs. Any reviews out there yet? I'm anxious to find out about the PQ and hopefully it will be better than the crappy, non-anamorphic discs I've been holding on to for years.

I received the three discs earlier this week. I will give the Crimson Tide DVD a spin this weekend (and maybe even take a look at the Enemy of The State DVD)

Hmm, I wouldnīt be so sure of that. Itīs going to take years before the majority will covert to high def players. Let alone world wide.
Itīs nice to be important, but itīs more important to be nice.

Exactly. SD-DVD is still the mass market for home video. HD DVD and Blu Rays are still experimental as a product. No one knows which format will suceed, if either of them do. It's entirely possible that both HD formats could crash and burn and the studios aren't going to abandon SD until they know HD can deliver the same numbers. That's a long way off.

As long as I can get my movies and TV shows in SD-DVD, I'm not switching. And I hope that is many, many years away.

Re: Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State SEs due 5/4 (but POSTPONED)
Still no reviews anywhere?
I have seen a scan of the back cover of Con Air and it looks a bare bones disc, not even the trailers from the old disc let alone any extra's?
Can anyone confirm this?
Metal Damage, Brain Damage...Are you listening Bronze? I am the Nightrider. I'm a Fuel Injected Suicide Machine......

Re: Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State SEs due 5/4 (but POSTPONED)
Shawn, some guy on DVDTalk says only one of the two trailers from CON AIR's old disc has been ported over, so if you don't want to lose any extras, you'll have to keep your old disc, too...

Isn´t it strange that no online retailers has these up for pre-order if they will be arriving next week?
Itīs nice to be important, but itīs more important to be nice.
