WHALE RIDER (a brand-new rental copy --no scratches or fingerprints) wouldn't load on my Pioneer DV-555. It did play fine on my Panny E-30 DVD recorder/player, however. At the store where I work, someone called to say that he had trouble playing it (another copy) on their RCA player (model unknown), and another who said it (yet another copy) wouldn't play on her Pioneer (again, model unknown). Same deal in all cases; it just wouldn't load.

Plays fine on my JVC XV-SA600 and a cheap Maganvox player.
