Devil and Daniel Webster - remake?

Anyone happen to know the fate of Alec Baldwin's remake of this old classic?
Is it ever going to appear? Direct to DVD premier? Always been curious to see it.

As far as I know the project is completely dead. I think the investors for what ever reason pulled their money out before shooting was completed. So I doubt they could release the film if they wanted to.

Weird, because there's a user comment from someone having seen it in 2002 on the IMDB. They've also got an August release date this year for Russia....but nowhere else.
I read the story about the money being pulled as well but figured it had somehow recently been completed.
The fact it's so elusive just makes me want to see it more!!
