ok i want
part 3 in 3d(it's doable specially since spy kids3 will be relased this way on dvd)
part is the easiest since th uk edition is already out.
part 7 would be cool to see uncut or at least with deleted scenes.
clips of deleted scenes from part 4 and 6 are (as well as rare ads and interviews)
h**p://home.comcast.net/~Kat9119/main.htm
i'd like them to clean them up since i haven't ben that mpressed with the image quality.
the aformentioned savini doc would be good
joe bob briggs commentary or excepts from the time he hosted themo n monstervision would be welcome.
also i would like them to include the original poster art similar to what new line did with their NOES set.
mods are welcome to edit my post i just thoght the site should be shared becuse of it's relevance( i like this site but am admittingly new)

Actually the current dvds look incredible. They should never look 'too' perfect or that would take away from the atmosphere. The same holds true for the soundmixes. They do not need 5.1 'upgrades'. They would sound terrible then.

I have seen the original in theaters & the mono mix was excellent, full of power & very frightening.

Ummmm, there is no way to hurt the atmosphere from cleaning up the picture. Any restoration is merely going to make it more like it was supposed to be seen.

I agree with the mono comment. Why the need to 5.1 everything?

Actually, the type of 3d used in part 3 requires a different type of 3d, not the standard red/blue type.

All the movies should be remastered so we get the best print possible with any dust, rips scratches on the print cleaned up. But if the movies are cleaned then there may not be able to insert the extra scenes what where cut and the prints looking horrible like the AOD Director Cut.

I believe a 5.1 would add another dimension to the film specially with the storm approaching in the first e.t.c, I know the Star Trek movies sound Great and if there have the same people working on them, why not add them and also add the mono track for the people who do not have a Home Theater System.I know I would be very happy with both tracks on there.

Anyone heard the commentary track by Sean S. Cunningham yet on the new UK DVD? Is it worth picking up. I already own the uncut R3 disc and I love the documentary but if this commentary is very informative, I may have to pick the UK one up as well.

I have a home theater system & still watch mono films in mono,if the track is included of course

The majority of the time. An original restored
mono mix will be far superior than any 5.1 remix the studio can create for it. Since it never sounds the same & takes away from the film, rather than addd just because it fills more speakers. So mono mixed right is a great thing & not needed for remixes. Yet some people still think O.A.R. is important, but tampering/altering a soundmix is ok. What a contradiction.

So trying to say that mono is only for people without HTF systems,is ridiculous.

As for cleaning the picture up even more so than the current amazing looking dvds? They already look perfect as intended, yet still have that nice semi-grainy but colorful & beautiful image(past releases were washed out & grey, with little color!). Remember grain is good & adds greatly to horror films. Cleaning them up 'too' much can hurt the film rather than add too. The Evil Dead is no longer that shocking or gruesome to myself. Since the image was cleaned & brightened up way to much, that the gross out effect of the gore is gone, since all the FX look very fake & unrealistic. Then the atmosphere which used to be creepy is now gone, since the shadow & darkness is gone with everything as plain as day, even the night sequences!

I would have been happier if The Evil Dead looked like the Basket Case SE dvd. Cleaned up,but not 'too' cleaned up,as grain is still present. The image is nice & raw looking as intended on it's shoestring budget. The cheap FX are still very effective without taking away from the film.

Yet I think this is sadly a problem with dvd. To many people think grain is a bad thing & want their films even the no budget cult titles of yesteryear to appear like a modern film made on a billion doller budget. Yet fail to realize just how much that will affect the film for the worse, rather than better. Afterall they now appear to pristine for their own good.
Also back to F13th with this issue. Some fans have complained about the R2 release looking to good & bright for it's own good. Since the effect of how they did Jacks death is now plainly obvious, that you can see where the fake rubber body connects to Kevins neck. Yet that was never obvious in Paramounts dvd, past vhs & even the theatrical prints. Though some complain about the image being 'dark',when it appears normal & easy to view. Also for those worried about the 'splice' mark before Marcies death. That was also in the theatrical print, vhs,tv showings & Paramount dvd release. It is a 'flaw' with the original negative & will always be there.

Jeff, the 'commentary' on the dvd has been said to just be just the interviews from the documentary running the length of the film. So I'd probably wait to see what Paramount comes up with if you already own a version of the film.

I've had the UK disc for a couple weeks and if you're a fan it's worth picking up. The print isn't as good as the Paramount disc however. The commentary track has Cunningham, the screenwriter and a couple of the actors but this is from interviews so it's not "really" a commentary. Some of what's in the documentary is also repeated in the commentary track especially the stuff Cunningham talks about. If you're a fan the commentary and documentary are decent enough if you don't want to wait for Paramount.

I couldn't agree more. I too, have a 5.1 Home Theater system, and I listen to mono or stereo tracks whenever possible. It really is better than a sloppily mixed 5.1 track.

About grain....Why do so many people hate it? I just don't understand. I *LOVE* film-grain. I think that most people are forgetting that most movies are shot on "FILM" and film is made up entirely of grain. Of course movies are going to have grain; they HAVE too. Of course these newer movies are being heavily filtered of their grain, which causes loss of "fine" detail and too soft a picture. LEAVE THE GRAIN!

I'm pro-grain too. I'd much rather have film grain than video artifacting.

Go Grain!
Go Mono!

For the first 4 Friday movies. I personally dont like the first one much anyways, but I thought that watching them back on the VHS tapes had more of an effect than on DVD.

Sure, the DVD's look better, but I remember back in the day that the darker VHS tapes had more of an effect on me...

I agree, there's no need to clean up the grain, but the nics and scratches on the prints need to be completely removed.

Part 4 also supposedly has a washed out look on the DVD and could use some fixing.

I think the other films look stunning and can't recommend them enough. Compare these to other films from the period...no contest.
