Not mentioned in DVDPlanet's summary, but it'll also include the London After Midnight reconstruction from Turner Classic Movies.
The Ace of Hearts, The Unknown, and Laugh Clown Laugh will also feature Michael F. Blake commentaries. The Unknown will have the Alloy Orchestra score while the other two will have the orchestral scores made for TCM.
If you're not much of a Chaney or silents fan, this is a wonderful way to start.

Worth the price alone just for the sensational Kevin Brownlow documentary. Brownlow's work is always excellent, but his Chaney bio-doc is insightful, fascinating, and quite moving. It has to be among Brownlow's very best work, and that's saying something.
I know Warner hinted at some silents being "upcoming" in their HTF chat, but I never expected something quite so substantial. Can't wait for this one!

Ah, fantastic! I'm glad these are still hitting in late October. I may have to break the bank in Monte Carlo (all dues to Lawrence of Arabia fans) to afford everything, but 2003 is proving a truly magnificent year for film enthusiasts.

Just pre-ordered this, sounds like a great DVD.
Just buying Warner DVDs alone (Looney Tunes, Bogart films, Giant Beast films...) I'm going to be broke when Christmas rolls along. I just hope my friends & relatives will understand.

If the documentary is among Kevin Brownlow's very best work then this set indeed will be worth it for that alone. Everything Mr Brownlow does concerning silent films seems to turn to gold.

There's been discussion on the Looney Tunes Golden Collection thread that Warner Bros. is unsure of that property, and strong sales are important in sending a strong message that we want more of the same. I hope consumers send a similar message with The Lon Chaney Collection, due the same day, as this set, if it sells well, will undoubtedly serve to encourage further silent commitments from this studio and others.
Together these sets should make perfect gifts, and I hope many are unwrapping both before year's end.
