My Darling Clementine- Alternate cut?
I see on Digital Bits that John Ford's "My Darling Clementine" is likely to be among the upcoming Fox Westerns that are on the way.
It would be fabulous if the recently discovered, John Ford's original cut, with the alternate ending was included.
Scholars and lovers of Film everywhere, would be forever grateful if this was the case.

I'll buy this title in any cut. I've had it on LD for years! Looking forward to a crisp new DVD version.

Well, when I was at Fox, last September, I spoke to the guy working on the restoration and he wasn't enthusiastic at all about releasing John Ford's version of the film. Matter of fact, he stated to me that the shorter version was a better showing of the film which baffled me because the longer version to me is quite an improvement over the shorter one with a few more details revealed. Anyway, his lack of suppport in regard to the longer version bothered me, so I hope more members let their feelings known that at the very least the longer version should be the one released. Yet, it would be even better if Fox does what Warner did when they released both versions of "The Big Sleep" on the same dvd.
This film is coming out on dvd in 2003, so we need to speak up now about this issue!

Great to hear and I support your cause to get the longer version out as well.

That position makes sense. I appreciated having both versions of "The Big Sleep" made available.

Both versions should definitely be included.
If that's not feasible (and there is no good reason it shouldn't be) and it has to be only one, then obviously it should be Ford's preferred cut.

I'd like to know why Fox would release the other cut.
They must have put a lot into the restoration, so that's like Universal putting the pre-restored Rear Window on DVD!
