CTHV Press Release: Rudy: Collector's Edition

"Two Thumbs Up! A marvelous performance by Sean Astin."
*–Siskel & Ebert

Inspiring True Story About One Young Man's Dream
of Playing Football at Notre Dame
Starring Sean Astin from "The Lord of the Rings"

******************************************
RUDY Collector's Edition
******************************************
Special Edition DVD Plus Bonus Motion Picture Soundtrack CD
Available for The First Time Together on September 30

* * * * Culver City, CA (July 21, 2003) - A must-have for any sports fan, Columbia TriStar
Home Entertainment will release the acclaimed and moving motion picture RUDY in a specially
packaged collector's edition set featuring the Special Edition DVD plus the soundtrack CD with
the powerful music of Academy Award®-winning composer Jerry Goldsmith as an added
premium, together at the collectible price of $24.95 SLP on September 30.

* * * * In the winning tradition of Hoosiers, The Rookie and Remember the Titans, RUDY is an
immensely entertaining true story about the inspirational life of Rudy Ruettiger and an
unforgettable testament to the power of dreams and the triumph of the common man, starring
talented young actor Sean Astin of The Lord of the Rings trilogy fame. Co-starring Ned Beatty
(Just Cause), Lili Taylor (Ransom), Jon Favreau (Swingers) and Charles S. Dutton (Alien 3),
RUDY is "without a doubt, one of the finest sports movies ever made" (Michael Medved, New
York Post) and declared "the Rocky of the '90s" (Paul Wunder, WBAI Radio).

* * * * All his life, people have told Rudy he's not good enough, not smart enough, not big
enough. But nothing can stop his impossible dream of playing football for Notre Dame. From the
time he's a young boy, Rudy (Astin) is determined to join the Fighting Irish. But his blue-collar
family only laughs at his ambitions -- they know Rudy will follow his father and brothers to the
local steel mill. But some dreams won't die, as Rudy proves when he goes to heroic, occasionally
hilarious, lengths to win admission to Notre Dame. Once there, he becomes a walk-on player,
serving as little more than a human tackling dummy. *Bloodied but unbeaten, Rudy wins the
respect of legendary coach Ara Parseghian and the other Irish players, who give him one shot at
gridiron glory. * * * *

SPECIAL EDITION DVD BONUS FEATURES INCLUDE:

Ron's post is the most beautiful sight these eyes have ever seen. I've been ready for this SE my whole life.

"We're gonna go inside, we're gonna go outside, inside and outside. We're gonna get 'em on the run boys and once we get 'em on the run we're gonna keep 'em on the run. And then we're gonna go go go go go go and we're not gonna stop til we get across that goalline. This is a team they say is....... is good, well I think we're better than them. They cant lick us, so what do you say men?"

David Anspaugh directed this and Hoosiers - I'll never know why his career tanked.

Now, since Rob mentioned "Hoosiers"...

How about an SE of that???!!!

Rudy and Hoosiers are two of my favorite films of all time. I'm from Indiana though, so maybe I'm biased?

I'll buy the Rudy SE! Thanks for the press release Ron!

I don't mean to be a thread fart, but since I own the SE dvd already, besides the cd soundtrack, are there other reasons not mentioned to re-buy this? I certainly would upgrade if I knew the video quality was better. The current dvd looks pretty good though.

Thanks.

I think there is a commentary on the new DVD, but I don't know if I will upgrade.

Just curious; I read about the new edition at DVDFile also, but the specs Ron has posted are the exact same specs as the Rudy disc that's already out there. Is this just a repressing packaged with the CD soundtrack?
