Jeff Bridges, Noah Wyle, Morris Chestnut and Jon Abrahams
in the Gritty Crime Thriller

*********************************************
SCENES OF THE CRIME
**********************************************
Debuting September 30 on DVD and Videocassette
* * * *
* * * * Culver City, CA (July 21, 2003) - The Sopranos have met their match with the
intense and compelling cast of mobsters featured in the taut crime thriller SCENES OF
THE CRIME, starring four-time Academy AwardŽ-nominee Jeff Bridges (Seabiscuit,
Arlington Road), five-time Emmy nominee Noah Wyle (TV's "ER"), Morris Chestnut
(Two Can Play That Game, Like Mike) and Jon Abrahams (TV's "Boston Public"), coming
to DVD and videocassette from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment on September 30.

* * * * Inspired by a true story, SCENES OF THE CRIME chronicles one young man's
rapid and uncontrolled descent into the underbelly of the Los Angeles crime world. *Lenny
Burroughs (Abrahams), a young auto mechanic who is due to get married in a few days,
has been making some extra money as an occasional wheelman for "gangster friend" Rick
Woods (Peter Greene). *Hoping to earn some quick cash before his wedding day, he agrees
to chauffeur Rick on a "delivery." *Unbeknownst to Lenny, Rick has been hired by a rival
crime lord to kidnap Jimmy Berg (Bridges), a high-powered businessman who is also
involved in mob contracts and other illicit activities including being the mastermind for a
heist in which a mob leader was murdered. *

* * * * The normally routine assignment becomes anything but when Lenny finds himself
the unwitting accessory in the kidnapping, which goes seriously wrong when Rick turns
rogue and prepares to execute Jimmy. *But out of nowhere arrives Jimmy's bodyguard
Seth (Wyle) who kills Rick, forcing Lenny to guard Jimmy until he receives further orders
- but it seems the very smart hostage is pulling the strings. *Now Lenny must decide whom
to trust to get him out of this mess. *Either way, Lenny's life will never be the same.

There's something strange about this film's background. There is only one review listed at the MRQE web site which is very strange. IMDb shows it having never been released in the U.S. (if I know how to read the data). IMDb shows it as 35mm, but no aspect ratio.

There is so little information on the film, I'm curious to know what it is all about, and if the film is any good.

Anyone know anything about it?

If you have a subscription to the Starz network, then you can catch the reruns of this film. The film debut on the Starz network exclusively and was made by StarzPictures.

I don't have Starz, but that explains a lot. I see it's in anamorphic widescreen, so the 35mm entry in IMDb must not mean it's not widescreen after all.

It was probably intended for theatrical release and then dumped to cable because either it's not very good or they couldn't find an adequate distributor (if it was an indie). New Line's "Unconditional Love" with Rupert Everett is going the former route on Saturday night.
