Transformers Season 1 boxset - R1 or R2 what to buy

Can someone help me out, I want to get the Transformers season 1 boxet but I am unsure as to what version I should go for. Now I am thinking perhaps I should get the R2 version as I have heard that the R1 version there appears to be some problems with at some parts having the wrong colors or something like that (not sure about the R2 version)

I put up a comparison site of the two sets a while ago: The Transformers Season 1 DVD comparison

Both sets have different kinds of problems, so I don't really know which one to consider better.

Hi

Thanks for replying to my post.

It is really a hard choice to know on what to do, on whether or not to get this set. (do you know if any of the other seasons are affected by this problems)

The audio problems (extra sound effects) are still there on the season 2 sets in the US. But the video problems seem to be gone in the US season 2 sets. (I haven't seen any UK sets besides season 1.)

I am thinking I may be better off just getting the UK release (but the original dvd release with the 2.0 soundtrack)

After reading about the comparisons as I think even the UK boxset release has the Rhino 5.1 remix.

You are correct, the UK version has ONLY the modified Rhino 5.1 remix, and no 2.0 track. The US versions contain the original audio on SOME (but not all) of the episodes in the 2.0 track.

In the season 2 part 2 set, ALL of the audio on both the 5.1 and 2.0 tracks is messed up (has added sound effects).

Such a classic series, but on the whole it appears the dvd box sets have been ruined.
I just don't think it is even worth the bother to get them (i will have to try and find out about the audio on the original UK DVD release, it is in 2.0 so that may still be the original audio possibly??)

I agree with you that they have been ruined. You can send them an e-mail telling them that at this address: drrhino@rhino.com

I heard that the previous versions of the UK DVDs had the correct unmodified audio, but the episodes were out of order. I haven't ever seen this set myself, though, so I can't verify that info.
