TOP 100 DVDs (updated 2003)
Check out this link. This list was compiled earlier this year. It's worth a look through! I think own 63 of em!
It is worth saying that you already have a few key ingredients in the world of "BEST DVDS". Toy Story Toy box and Fellowship EE.
I don't know that it's saying a whole lot, but feel free to check out my collection (not saying it's the stuff to get, it's FAR FROM IT!) and for sure, CHECK OUT THE TOP 100 link!
POWERFUL THE DARKSIDE IS... I caved and bought the Star Wars re-release after saying the whole time that I wouldn't.

^^^Not a bad list. Surprisingly I have 46 out of the 100. But a lot of their choices are questionable.
In the end there it's all about taste, specifically yours. Don't buy movies just for the sake of owning them, or trying to look smarter or something. Buy only what you enjoy.

This list was compiled by thousands of user votes. What was questionable in your opinion, just curious?

That is a good Top 100. I've own 57 of the flicks, including the top ten...you can't go wrong with the stuff on that list.

Um, some minor quibbles. Firstly Attack of the Clones was too high on the list. Not because of the film, but I think the disc was lacking compared to Phantom Menace. Lacking in the sense that it had virtually the same features, when more could have been expanded upon or added (take Lord of the Rings for example)
Secondly, some DVD I felt should have been included (again IMO) Antz, Life of Brian:CC. I noticed 12 Monkey made the list, while a strong film I think the Universal CE of Apollo 13 and Out of Sight were just as good, if not better. I'm reluctant to say Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: CC because I don't know if that was released at the time of this lists creation. Then some TV show DVDs I would have left off the list (Why Buffy S2 over the X Files S2, stuff like that.)
I should have stressed 'questionable to me', because honestly everyone's list will be different. However, the above I think are also excellent discs worth having. Who knows, I could be wrong.

Well, it's not that those discs are not good, I just think more people voted for them.

Since you have The Royal Tenenbaums, you should get the Criterion version of Rushmore, also directed by Wes Anderson. Do NOT get the Touchstone version, as it's non-anamorphic and barebones.

Fair enough.
But I was tring to let Dan know that he shoudn't have this need to own a disc just because the majority of people do. Just all all those AFI movie lists, take them with a grain of salt, but ultimatley find the movie you love (because many of them wont even have bonus features, thus wont make that list).
