I'll bet that the first day release will see stores trying to get you in. I bet we get it for $30 to $35. Do you think it will have any kind of Indy 4 promotional material? It would be nice to see some sort of teaser even if it doesn't have any footage. Just a way to let us (and the non-believers ) know it's coming.

I'll be all around in the dark, I'll be everywhere. Wherever you can look, wherever there's a fight, so hungry people can eat, I'll be there. Wherever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, I'll be there. I'll be in the way guys yell when they're mad. I'll be in the way kids laugh when they're hungry and they know supper's ready, and when the people are eatin' the stuff they raise and livin' in the houses they build, I'll be there, too.

Earl Roberts,

I don't know why it is hard for you to believe that some people can like one in the series and loathe another one. There are several series where one or more films are not liked for one reason or another. How many here hate the new Star Wars films, or some of the James Bond movies, or Star Trek, etc. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, maybe you forgot that.

I think price is an important issue. For many, many people, $80 to get The Godfather is a lot of money. I would bet that many of those same people would buy the first two for $25 each.

If they price the Indy box set right, they'll avoid much of that problem. I would think $35 or under would be right.

I believe in choice. I'll buy the box set, and would probably only buy Raiders if they were separate. But I think they are limiting the market with the all-or-nothing option, especially if they price it high.

I guess that's what I'm basing my arguments on. I have a good feeling that the set won't be priced like the Godfather set.

And maybe Glenn is right about the fact that sales of the 3rd movie would be bad. And, if sold separately, Paramount may not release it at all. So maybe the boxed set is the only way Paramount feels they won't lose money on production of the 3rd movie????

Another thing to consider...Imagine if they DID release them separately AND the boxed set was $35...Can you imagine buying the first 2 at $18 a piece? That would be $1 more than buying all three in the set.

Sure, you may only want 1 of the movies, but you might not be in the majority and the majority usually wins out in any business decision. So since the majority wants at least 2, then they'll probably go with the $35 price (kind of like buying 2 and getting the 3rd free.)

I didn't buy Godfather or BTTF because I didn't want all the movies.

I'd love to watch all three of these in a row though. Would be a long day, but who cares.

I'd say I like 3,1,2 in that order. Temple of doom can be hokey, but it's still a lot of fun.

And this is of course based on your extensive market research.

If I had to hazard a guess, I would think that a very significant portion of the general buying public (note: not just HTF regulars) would only want to buy Raiders.

A lot of people loved the third also. Basically no one knows what the general public wants. Everyone I know loves the 1st and the 3rd.

Yeah, same here. Although, like a lot of other people here,
I am interested in all 3 movies in this boxed set. I used to like TOD very much, then alot of people here convinced me that I actually didn't like this movie, then I watched it again a little while ago, and, guess what, I actually do like it!

The indyexperience.com has 2 different stories.

One, from 4/29 cites the Digital Bits article.

The other, from 4/24, says this

Our contacts within Lucasfilm have informed us of a few interesting facts about the Indiana Jones DVD. There's good news, and then there's some bad news, but I can say for sure, progress with the DVDs is moving a long nicely. First off some facts we can confirm:
*
Laurent Bouzerau is currently working on the Making of Specials: He was in London a month ago doing an interview with Vic Armstrong (Last we heard, he would be doing a commentary) as well as Spielberg, Ford, and some other stunt men.
*
David West Reynolds is working on other Bonus features for the DVDs.
*
All Three Films have been Digitally remastered: Previous Rumors have been stating that some of the film's glitches and minor bloopers have been fixed for the release).
*
Current release date for the DVDs is November: Just in time for Thanksgiving. Current status is, the DVDs will be released all at once this November in a box set. Then, in 2004, according to our sources, the DVDs will be released individually.

Now for some bad news....

*
As far as we know, there will be no Deleted Scenes on the DVD this time around.

But some redeeming Good news:

*
There will be a special edition After Indy IV!

What I said was that if somebody LOVED Raiders then I doubt they would HATE the others. Not like them maybe but I don't think the other parts would be hated because they are so similar and actually feature better scenes then the part that person LOVED. All three parts pretty much go together unlike the Star Trek films or Bond films where there is no progressive story and where the modern day Bonds are VERY different from Goldfinger and the likes. The new and old Star Wars films are very much connected by name only and are VERY different from each other.
By the way, who forgot that someone was entitled to an opinion???

Earl,

The Star Wars films are a hell of a lot more connected storywise than these are. The Indy films are totally self contained stories. They reference small things here and there but that is it. You know, I am tired of arguing about this. Everyone enjoy the box set. I will just wait til '04 and buy the Raiders and Crusade films at that point.
