Unbearable Lightness Of Being Criterion or MGM

What is the difference between the two? Is this the same transfer and extras?

See graphical comparison and screenshots of the two versions here on DVDBeaver. They recommend the Criterion edition as being superior. The Criterion has officially been OOP for some time, but I was able to find a copy as recently as January. Checking today, DeepDiscountDVD lists it for $17.96 (55% off the list price of $39.95). I love this film, BTW.

Send a message via AIM to Joel C
They have the list at $24.95 for some reason.

When Criterion released this in 1999, the list price was $39.95. I can only guess that after it went OOP, the list price was reduced to $24.95 to get rid of existing stocks. Bargain-hunter that I am, I'll continue to believe that I saved a bundle. Glad to have it in my collection nonetheless.

I purchased this a few days ago from DDD. I was just curious if there was any difference in a/v quality.

Thanks.

Amazing movie. Get the Criterion, it has commentary.
