wow, nice thread resurrection... it seems many of the films mentioned here are out already!
My own pick for a criminally overrlooked movie would be "The 25th Hour", Henri Verneuil's 1967 masterpiece about a Romanian peasant caught in the treacherous stupidity of World War II... easily one of Anthony Quinn's best performances ever, on par with "Zorba".
The movie is NOT politically correct for these days and age, so that makes it a very unlikely contender for DVD in the foreseeable future.

Darrell,
There's rumors that Miramax is getting all of their older titles from the various distribution arms, so there might be hope for Propsero's Books (from Fox), Delicatessen/K2/Double Life of Veronique, etc. (from Paramount) and Drowning By Numbers (Artisan).
I wonder who has the rights to the old October Films catalog (particularly The Hairdresser's Husband). Wasn't Monsieur Hire an Orion film?
Glad to see Paris, Texas is finally coming out, but with all of the special features available in R2, bummed that it's barebones. Whatever happened to Fox's short-lived relationship with licensing material to Criterion?

I thought the R4 The Belles of St. Trinian's looked pretty good.
Hellzapoppin is out in R4 too. But it's hard to find.

Mark,
I'm usually pretty forgiving of older films and didn't expect much, but "Belles" looked pretty brutal and a bit jumpy on my player. I meant to try it on my second PAL converting player to make sure it's not a conversion issue on player #1. If you were satisfied with it, then maybe that's the issue. thanks. I noted ezydvd doesn't carry Hellzapoppin. OOP? Hope not, it's a longshot for R1 release.

They're releasing Young Mr. Lincoln sometime next year.

Has anyone mentioned the 1951 Gregory Peck version of Captain Horatio Hornblower? Saw it long ago and loved it.

Jerzy Skolimowski's "Moonlighting" and "Deep End."
Martin Bell's "Streetwise."
Louis Malle's "Au Revoir Les Enfants." (available in Europe but not in U.S.)
Stanley Donen's "Two For the Road." (I'm sure Fox will eventually get around to releasing this, but I wish they'd hurry up!)
Ken Russell's "The Devils." (I seem to remember the Warner rep mentioning during one of the chats on this forum that they were working on this... eagerly awaiting word of this release).
