Ooooh! Great stuff there, David! ... I've always wanted to see Years Of Lightning, Day Of Drums and Four Days In November.
|
Thanks, Gord!
You can still get Four Days on VHS. Not as good as DVD no doubt, but then again, it's comprised of nearly 100% amateur-type "real" footage shot by those people with cameras who happened to be present. So, in this case, the differences between VHS and DVD might be minimal. (Still, I'd love it on DVD nonetheless.)
Gregory Peck's Years Of Lightning is really one I'm thirsty for. The only version I have is a really crappy 88th generation VHS dub in EP.
Oh well...perhaps we'll see them come November.

I would like to see Noises Off on DVD.
I would like to see Pure Luck with Danny Glover and Martin Short on DVD.
The Mel Gibson action Attack Force Z
And Kevin Costner in Fandango

Gah. It really sounds like a great piece of documentary filmmaking, albeit steeped in tragedy.

Ah, of course, it will be 40 years since...
If there was a time to release both films, it would be this November. Who owns the rights, by-the-way?
Cheers.

Four Days is an MGM/UA release (at least the VHS was put out by MGM).
Years Of Lightning, I haven't the vaguest.
That one, however, has NEVER seen ANY kind of a video release. My copy came via a 1983 or 1988 OTA TV broadcast.
Here is some info on it.
Above link says it was put out by the "U.S. Information Agency" in 1966. But I'm quite sure, like Four Days, it was made in 1964, just after the events in Dallas.

After watching Adaptation the other night, I was thinking about other Chris Cooper movies. I would really like to see MATEWAN which I believe was his first movie, and is a great John Sayles film.

Thanks man! Just thought of some others:
The Asphalt Jungle
The Fearless Vampire Killers
Repulsion
Shoah
It has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime,
What better place than here? What better time than now?

Gordon, Compulsion was released on laserdisc in it's original Cinemascope ratio.

TommyT:
Repulsion was previously released by Koch in 2001 (now OOP), with perhaps the worst cover art in history. New Yorker is rumored to be working on a release of Shoah.
