I have a friend with R2 dvds of season 1 and 2 of futurama. I noticed however that the subtitling job on it was piss-poor. For both the commentary and the episode commentary, words and phrases were frequently edited or contracted. I doubt that the subtitles were changed from the R2 discs. Is there some way to let fox know that about the subtitles inaccuracies in hopes that they'll do a better job in the future?

I am so stoked for this. Futurama is one of two all time favorite Sci-fi/comedy animations. ( the other being the old 80's anime Urusei Yatsura)
My birthday is on March 28 and Futurama arrives on the 25th.
what a great birthday it will be

It's rather sad that the show isn't more popular. To me it's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.
Thanks for the review.

Futurama has been my favorite show for the last couple of years, pushing down The Simpsons, but I'm pretty useless at work if I try to stay up "late" to watch Futurama on Cartoon Network. Besides, buying this box set, I'm hoping, would have a more direct impact on the slim chances of getting Fox to bring the show back after they run out of episodes. And who can get enough of Zoidberg?

Yeah I can't wait to see "Welshie" !
I have that one on VCD.
I never caught many of the shows so if the price is good I'll prbably pick it up.

Are you sure about that release date? I saw several of these sets already at one of the best electronic stores downtown.
The packaging looks great - think the price was around $32-$34.00. Passed on it in favor of a future rental. Have never seen it, but it sounds like a fun show.

I've been looking for Calculon's Own at Wal-Mart and can't find it.

Futurama is a great show. As stated it truly was a victim of an awful time slot. I enjoyed the show but 7-8pm on Sundays is 60 Minutes for me. I'm glad Fox moved King of The Hill to a better time slot as I think it would have shared the same fate as Futurama. Now if only they hadn't put Andy Richter Controls the Universe into television purgatory for the second time in 2 years
Definately good to have this out, but I think I'm gonna hold off as I'm getting my Futurama fix on Cartoon Network. Once I graduate in May and am unable to stay up until all hours of the night I may pick it up though.
Regards,
Dave

Glad you've 'discovered' the show, Ron! Solid review!
I can't get over how much I love this set. Although I adore both of my Simpsons sets, I unknowingly expected this one to be something less of an 'event'.
Man I was wrong. The packagaing is slick and colorful; the episodes scream vibrant color from every frame; the series is, of course, generally brilliant; and I've yet to devour the Features or Commentaries.
Best 30 bucks I've spent in months. Wonderful job, Fox!

Let me also give a big to the packaging! I know that packaging is not the reason we buy DVDs, but it sure is a nice bonus to have it done so beautifully and intelligently. I hope we see a lot more of this, it works MUCH better than those burdensome fold-out deals like The Simpsons, Buffy and X-Files.

I love this show! I'd rate these DVDs higher than either of the Simpsons sets that are out.
