Herb, I agree, but to be fair Warner has been receiving complaints about their snappers for the last seven years and when they switched to keep cases for the other regions, but continued to use snappers for R1 the amount of complaints only increased.

I'm not entirely convinced due to the unusually high amount of complaints over the many years that the decision to slowly switch over to keep cases for R1 was largely due to consumer feedback - otherwise they would have switched many years ago. I suspect it was more of a cost issue as keep cases are significantly cheaper than snappers, and now that 4-color inserts are no longer a requirement for DVD releases, the cost savings were probably much too great to ignore any longer to continue to use snappers.

I suspect, as already speculated on in this thread, once their current supply of snappers runs out we wont be seeing snappers any longer.

(So long Snap.)

I just noticed that amazon.com has cover art for New York Miniute and Scooby Doo 2, and they are both in keepcases. Good news, as I have been wanting to purchase an Olsen film for years, but never could justify adding another snapper to my collection. I have converted about 10 snappers to keepcases though.

I don't know about the type of case for the R1 SE of Iron Giant, but it is worth knowing that Warner has been releasing DVDs in the UK and Europe in keep cases for much longer than the R1 counterparts, and so Davis DVD (a UK site) has always shown upcoming Warner titles in keep cases even though for the R1 editions Warner almost always ended up releasing them in snappers.

So far, all we know for sure is that the R2 SE of Iron Giant will be in a keep case. Hopefully like the new R1 SE of Blazing Saddles, Warner will also be using keep cases for Iron Giant.

At least for now, it appears that Warner is finally cutting back on snappers for their new R1 releases, and using keep cases for even single disc editions in box sets and for special edition releases. It still looks like snappers are being used for many new standard editions and of course previously released titles that were originally in snappers.

Not trying not to be a moron

How can you guys tell all the different cases apart?
Does anyone have a link to a visual reference?

Amray vs. keepcase vs. digipak........

Ok i know what a snapper is but...

I nerver really noticet the difference other than the plastic holding the dvd in.
