Armageddon Criterion Collection DVD

Hi Everyone,

I just saw this movie last week, and immediately fell in love with it, so I bought the "Criterion Collection" version, but it's NOT Anamorphic. I paid $45 dollars for it at Walmart. Are they going to re-release this movie in Anamorphic? I can't stand seeing Non-Anmorphic movies on my TV, since you can see all the scan-lines through the picture!!!

Please tell me if this movie will be re-released anytime in the future.

Well, Armageddon was suppose to be one of the best examples of the best non-anamorphic picture. I think R2 one is anamorphic.
There has been talk about it but nothing concrete has really come up. If you do a search, I think you will find the threads as they were not too long ago.

THE ONLY ANAMORPHIC RELEASE OF ARMAGEDDON IS FROM R4!
The regular R1 & R2 release are not anamorphic.

If regular edition is a requirement, you may be right Yang. But at least there is an Armageddon SE that is anamorphic. Than again this is the only Armageddon DVD I could find at blackstar.

Both the SE and the original Armageddon DVDs in the UK (R2) are anamorphic. I owned the original for a while but thought the picture improvement didn't justify keeping it after I bought the Criterion release.

Armegeddon, along with the Abyss, are the two best non anamorphic movies I have seen on my TW56X81 set. They are even better than some anamorphic movies.

Even though that it is almost the best looking Non-Anamorphic DVD out there, does not mean that it can't be re-released in Non-Anamorphic. I myself don't have a Widescreen TV, *BUT* I *DO* have a Sony Wega that does "16X9" enhancement with the touch of a button, and when a movie is NOT Anamorphic, it is NOT acceptable. It has scan lines that you can see all the way to the end of the earth! I hate scan lines on my TV, it makes it look like an OLD Projection TV with all those horrible scan lines through the picture.

Non-Anamorphic is *NOT* OKAY!
