Hey David, I knew that I wasn't imaging things...I simply had my studios backward...At least I know that I wasn't dreaming it up....
This was the blurb on DVDFile back 10-22-02:
TV on DVD heats up in 2003 - 12:03am
In what is fast shaping up to be the year of TV on DVD, it looks just about every even semi-popular TV series will get some sort of DVD release in 2003. Video Store Magazine has new article up ( http://www.videostoremag.com/news/ht...rticle_ID=3933) with interviews with various big studio players on their plans for upcoming DVD TV releases next year.
“DVD has opened up marketing avenues for all kinds of programming,” said Lori MacPherson, VP of brand marketing for BVHE. “This includes good television product.” Many of the gems earmarked for 2003 include first season collections of Charlie's Angels (just in time for its big-screen sequel), Dawson's Creek (to coincide with the season finale this spring) SWAT and Married With Children from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, and from Buena Vista's Touchstone Television arm, the classics Home Improvement and The Golden Girls.
Already announced sets also due next year include the cult classic Battlestar Galactica from Universal Studios Home Video, along with Dragnet, Emergency, Magnum P.I., Quantum Leap, The Rockford Files and Sliders, plus more MASH, Buffy and X-Files sets from Fox Home Entertainment, and Outer Limits and Stargate SG-1 followups from MGM. Stay tuned for more info in the months ahead...

I could have sworn, on the Charlie's Angels front, that not to long ago I read, might have been DVDFile, that the first season of Angels was coming in regards to the second feature.
|
I heard/read the same rumors, but no evidence has come forward to verify. Of course, we heard/read rumors of season sets of Married...With Children prior to announcements of not one but TWO "best of" sets. It seems like Col/TS is gravitating toward best-of's for some dumb reason.

i'm wondering what the deal is that they've not announced the second season of LAW AND ORDER
|
I doubt they speak up on this subject until they at least get past Dragnet, Emergency!, Quantum Leap, Sliders, Earth: Final Conflict, Battlestar Galactica, Rockford Files, and Magnum P.I.
I imagine Dragnet will be up first, with the new remake series premiering this coming Sunday.

As long as this thread has been revived, I might as well ask:
Has anyone heard a date (month? season?) when "The Rockford Files" will be released? It's my favorite television show of all time, and I am dying to have it on DVD...

Rob, heh, I hadn't seen that you "beat" me to the HTF update on BG, pretty much immediately after I posted the news item initially.
Did you check back and see it afterward? I edited it to add in so info I had inadvertently left off. No more than a dozen or so views to the article when I changed it, so you may be one of the few who missed the quick update.
Daniel, I *JUST* got through addressing the lack of info about Rockford Files over here.

I got my info from someone who had taped-off-air copies of the show and compared them to the R2 copies he played on his Malata. I've long since deleted the e-mail (over a year ago), so I can't go beyond what I've just said. Sorry.
Have you made such a comparison? If so, please correct my information. It was only one person, after all. I saw no reason to distrust the information; he seemed to be a huge fan who WANTED the music to be correct and was disappointed when it wasn't.

All the obvious songs are still there so i'm not sure what this fan was refering to. Tina Turner, Pointer Sisters, Phil Collins, ZZ Top, Russ Ballard, Dolly Parton etc, all on my discs.

Perhaps it was something more subtle then, I dunno.
If I'm being honest, I was never presonally a fan of the show, not having been home the nights it aired to catch it (I forget what weeknight that was, but I presume my job interfered with viewing and so I never caught it enough to get into it).
In any case, I have no background with which to personally compare...you'll outclass me by far on that Craig.
Having said all that, I *am* interested in helping fans of the show get a legit and complete R1 release on DVD if at all possible. At this time it doesn't seem possible, though. My sympathies to fans of the show...I know how I'd feel if one of my favorites was similarly dashed. Oh, wait...that's how I felt about the same news about never seeing WKRP on DVD.

Speaking of Universal...Have we heard anything about more Law & Order season sets??
Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.
