Online purchasing vs. local purchasing?

My question is as follows. Is purchasing online the way to go? I have researched my components and have obviously discovered that purchasing on line will save me some flow! I have never purchased A/V equipment on line and I am a little apprehensive in doing so.

What I am looking to purchase is a RX Denon-3803 and/or the new Denon DVD-2900.

What dealers are reputable?
How do the warranties work?
What about return policies?
Extended warranties?
Customer service?

Appreciate any and all input.

Thanx
Rich

Warranties are from the manufacturer, not the dealer. They work the same way regardless of where you purchase (assuming it's an authorized dealer).

Every place is different. The return policy should be listed on the website.

Extended warranties?
I don't buy 'em. However, I have occasionally purchased service plans direct from the manufacturer. This transaction usually occurs after the sale and does not involve the dealer.

Read through the existing threads in the Retail and Wholesale Vendors Feedback section (where this thread has been moved). There's already a lot of existing commentary on various dealers.
