Cheap AVR with preouts

I have been looking at H/K, Yamaha and Pioneer receivers in the price range of $300 or less. This will be mainly used for listening to music in either 5.1 or my DefTechs and a sub. Looking for a good powered receiver with pre-outs in case I decide to add a amp later. I currently have a H/K 225 that just doesn't seem to have the oomph I need and has no pre-outs. Any suggestions would be great.

Re: Cheap AVR with preouts

I think the absence of replies is caused by a definite lack of $300 or less receivers that include preouts. The Yamaha RX-V663 which folks over at AVS are getting from J&R for ~$400 has preouts. The MSRP where you may find this feature is about $500. The other option is to buy something used off eBay or Craigslist.

Re: Cheap AVR with preouts

If you want a decent AVR with pre-outs, just keep an eye on Ebay. I got a HK AVR320 a year ago for $150.

Re: Cheap AVR with preouts

Thanks Guys. I see H/K on ebay from harmon audio for under $300 with pre-outs. I was just looking for some other brands that others might prefer over H/k.

You need to look used. I don't think I have one piece of equipment that was bought new except for my SVS sub.

Anyway, I just picked up an used Denon 2807 that meets all your requirments (and then some) for $325.

Oh well, budgets were meant to be broken

Hmmm... I wonder though if you actually save all that much buying used for an AVR, especially a low end model, unless you're buying from some authorized (or highly reputable) dealer that offers free shipping and some sort of refurb warranty.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for buying used when it makes sense. But I kinda doubt it makes that much sense for low end AVRs unless you just happen to come across a great deal on rare occasion.

Anyway, doesn't the Onkyo 605 provide pre-outs? That one should probably fall barely w/in the OP's request, no?

NVM. Looks like the Onkyo 605 doesn't actually do pre-outs.
