Bi-Amping: Best way to split signal from pre-amp to amp?

Hi all,

I have a pair of Mirage 3si's which allow for bi-wiring. I would like to run the speakers using 4 out of 5 channels form a Kinergetics Chiro c500 power amplifier.

I need to split the front left and right outputs from my pre-amp (Proceed AVP) so I can connect to each of the four channels driven on the amplifier. What is the best way to do this? I've seen Y adapter cables of varying prices and quality. Also I've seen gold plated splitters plugged in to the output jacks of the pre-amp directly.

Anyone have experience with this? Recommendations? Suggestions? Good vendors to use?

Regards,

Thos.

A Y-cable or splitter will send the full-range signal to each channel, just at half power. That's not bi-amping, it's more like using the B speaker outputs on an older receiver.

The whole point of bi-amping is to separate the frequencies, so that the amp driving the woofer only has to amplify the bass frequencies and the amp driving the mid-range & tweeter in only driving the mids and highs. If you really want to bi-amp, then you need to install an external crossover for each channel between the preamp and power amp.
