PS3, Dolby True HD, DTS MA, and Onkyo 605 question?

I have my PS3 updated to the latest firware. I just had to watch "Juno" last night. Thanks to my wife. I know, I know, laugh it up. But at least it has DTS-Ma.
Anyway...Do any of these formats(TrueHd,DTSMA), actually work with 7.1 sound? I mean are they just better audio formats, but still just 5.1 channels?
I have everything connected via HDMI. If I put the PS3 BD audio settings to bitstream, the receiver decodes it as DTS-Neo 6. So at least the surround back speakers are on.
If i put the PS3 audio to LPCM, it does sound a little better, the receiver says Multichannel, but only the 5.1 speakers work.
What's the point of a 7.1 set-up? Do any BD discs even have 7.1 audio?

Some do, most don't. There's also an issue with the latest PS3 firmware and some New Line/Lion's Gate BD's that causes 7.1 to get downmixed to 5.1. This will likely be changed.
Many receivers (eg. Yamaha 661/663) can expand 5.1 LPCM to 7.1 via DPLIIx for much the same effect, but the 605 cannot. IMO, not a good receiver for a PS3/7.1 system as the vast majority of discs are 5.1.

Ditto what Jack said.

And you wife has great taste in movies. Coming from a guy who loathes chick flicks, I thought Juno was excellent.
