Multi Channel Input - Yamaha RX-V650 - Connected to Computer

Hey Folks,
I'm just looking into connecting my computer to my HT system. My receiver does not do Dolby Digital Plus, but it does have 8 separate channel inputs. My thought was to hook my computer to those inputs, figuring that then I can simply upgrade my computer rather than my whole receiver to keep up with the changing digital audio formats. So, here's my quandary, Does anyone know of a good sound card that has these 8 channel outputs? looks like most I've googled have some type of digital out, and expect the amp to do the channel separating. Would I need to buy a stand alone unit to separate the digital signal into each channel for my amp? and if so, what would that thing be called, I've never really seen one before, ( if it even exists outside of a new receiver)

THanks for you input,

Dave

Oh, I think I may have just found the answer to my own question

Creative labs has a cable that connects to some of their cards specifically for multi channel in. Any advice on sound cards, or any other aspect of my setup is appreciated though
