Onkyo HTIB

Years ago, I purchased A HT R500 HTIB.I like to get some reviews on this system because the system which,I think I paid approx $800.00,does not sound as good as system which cost half that price. Not saying that money means absolute quality, but system was purchased on the premise that it is a very good system. It probably is,however the sound is not convincing me
Thanks for any input

My brother also bought the Onkyo HT-500 receiver/speaker package a few years ago for $399. MSRP was $499 so I hope you didn't pay $800. Anyway, it doesn't sound to bad for what it is. But today $4-500 will get you the HT-800 which is much better than the 500. The speakers will always be the weak point, though. Home electronics are much like computers. The price stays pretty stable but the features and performance increase with each new model. Sounds like it's time for an up-grade?
