What are the characteristics of your room, such as approximate dimensions, dedicated or multipurpose etc.
My advice would be to purchase affordable [but quality] speakers as you can afford to do so. If you need something just to tide you over, then go ahead and get one of the solutions you listed, but I can guarantee you'll be replacing them soon based on the choice of receiver you made. I don't know a lot about speakers, but I have been happy with my axioms. You might want to check out their web site [
www.axiomaudio.com]. They won't fit your budget just yet, but they are actually pretty affordable for the quality, so something to keep in mind.
Also, don't buy a compromise sub. Save you $$ and get something that will handle the workload. A great sub can compensate to some degree for marginal fronts. I recommend SVS, but there are other choices which may be more affordable.
Hope this helps, and congrats on your new HT. We like pictures here, so when you're done, let's see it.
