Help with Kenwood VR6070

I got a free Kenwood VR6070 processor from work and there is a reason it's free.
When I switch sources the video changes as it should, but sometimes the audio does not switch. It doesn't matter which source I'm on and which one I'm going too. I've tried power cycling it and it has spent a large amount of time unplugged. It also doesn't matter whether I push the source button on the processor or the remote.
Any help would be appreciated.
