Help with new Onkyo 805

I just got my Onkyo 805. I set up my speakers using the machines Auddessy automatic setup. I would like to see what difference in sound if I were to setup my speakers using my sound meter I have. Is there a way where I can do that and still don't loose the settings of the auddessy. I was hoping that I could set it up both ways and then just choosing which one I want. I didn't know if the 805 has a way to hold both ways into it's memory. Thanks

From what I've read (haven't hooked my 805 up yet), you can adjust distance, xover, and relative channel level settings without altering the Audyssey measurements. Then, you just toggle EQ on/off (instructions in the manual) to A/B Audyssey.

And actually, there are 3 settings if I've understood things correctly. Audyssey has several different target curves that can be implemented. The 805 implements the "Audyssey" curve. However, if you have Audyssey engaged and select THX processing, Audyssey switches to its "flat" curve. Some receivers/processors allow you to choose "Audyssey" or "flat" regardless of soundfield mode, but not the Onkyos.

Couldn't you just go into the menu and write down the settings that the Audyessy has established.
Then manually change them as desired.
To change them back to the Audyessy settings , simply refer back to the original Audyessy settings you wrote down.

I think Chris is referring to the audio EQ done by Audyssey in addition to the distance/xover settings. There is no display for the Audyssey EQ settings as it's too complex to represent with the simple graphics engines powering a typical receiver's menu system...adjustments to individual frequencies or bands of frequencies are done in both level and time.

With the Onkyo's at least, you can safely manipulate speaker distances, channel levels, and xover settings without losing the Audyssey measurements. Well, technically, changing the Audyssey measured speaker distances would throw off any time adjustments the engine made. There's a menu for cycling through the EQ settings...off/Audyssey/Manual...so the owner can compare without having to remeasure every time.
