New low budget system

As of last night i purchased a Klipsch Quintet II series home theatre system along with 2 Klipsch SS.5's. Now i'm looking for a descent reciever. I need something in the area of 75-100 watts x 7 channel. I hope to be finding a cheap Hd tv sometime in the future along with Hd satellite. Any suggestions for a good 7.1 amp. Prefer to keep it under 450.

Re: New low budget system

1) Onkyo TX-SR605 can be had for less than $500
2) Denon AVR-1508 can be had for less than $350, AVR-1708 for less than $500

I say less than because these are typcially MSRP quotes.

Good luck

Jared

I'm sure if you read through the forum going back no further than 2-3 pages worth you'll get plenty of feedback/reviews on all the units mentioned.

The Onkyo appears to be the favourite for quality/features/price point while the Yamaha, Denon, Marantz, H/K, have their qualities at slightly higher price points.

JMO, and definitely not a flame, but I think you'll get a more diverse set of opinions on all of these AVRs at AVS Forum (AMPs, Receivers, and Processors - AVS Forum. However, read what's here first, by all means.

Re: New low budget system

I'll deffinately check that out. I was looking at reviews of the onkyo on c-net and i was surprised that it only got a 6.2/10. It seemed like everyone had some minor problem with it.

I think i'm going to try to find a good deal on a Denon 1908. Seems like its a pretty good amp and leave me a little room for upgrades.

Which Onkyo are you looking at? It got a 8/10 from Cnet but the Denon is still a good choice.
