Harman Kardon AVR147

I tried hooking up my PS2 through my AVR147 first through the composite input then through the component input. I cannot get video through the receiver, yet when I hook it up directly to the tv (toshiba 27" CRT) I get video. My monitor out from my AVR147 is through S-video. If I hook up through component and optical, will the receiver be able to down convert to S-video? Is this my problem of why I cannot get video through my receiver from my PS2?

I have a Bell Express Vu receiver hooked up through S-Video, a DVD player hooked up through S-Video, and then the PS2 hooked up with Component. I have also gone through the OSD and assigned the inputs accordingly, yet there is no vid for my PS2 Please help

Re: Harman Kardon AVR147

Ok so I got a component cable for Christmas and hooked it up as my monitor cable to the TV. Still no luck. Do I have to do any setup and select the component monitor out as the designated one?

You do need to tell the AVR which video output you want to use for each device. Once that is set up you are good to go.

Doug, what do you mean tell the AVR which video output to use for each device? I am only using the Monitor output for the video out.

Sorry for taking so long. If you are using Component as your input, you will only be able to output it via component. If you are using s-video as the input, you will only be able to use s-video for the output. The 147 has no internal video converter.

You can have more than one kind of input per video (for instance video 1) If you are doing this then you have to tell the 147 which one to use when you switch devices. I don't have the manual handy so I can't tell you which menu.

If you are only using one source per input (for instance video 1) then you don't have to make changes on the 147.

Short answer: You have to use the same monitor output as you use to input IE: component can only go out via component. You cannot output component for an s-video input.
