hdmi receiver question

Hello all, i was wondering if anyone knows if there is a receiver that would take a HDMI input and "recode" it into a component output. I have a HDTV ready RPT tv without dvi or hdmi inputs. thanks for any help. I received 3 seperate opinions from the "experts" at futureshop.....

Re: hdmi receiver question

The real question may be, why do you want this? The reason for the question is that many times someone is looking for this feature, it is because they think there will be benefits that they actually won't get.

Having said that, I don't think that feature exists in any equipment. Even if it did, there would most likely be handshaking issues with the source components which would render it useless.

They flutter behind you, your possible pasts.
Some bright-eyed and crazy, some frightened and lost.

Re: hdmi receiver question

without a dvi or hdmi input on my hdtv I am stuck using the component inputs. I am looking for a temp solution until I upgrade my tv. HDTV ready is a curse.

Re: hdmi receiver question

What John is saying is you will not benefit from using HDMI. Stick with component until you get an HDMI set.

Once again, the Bulls have let me down...
