Help me choose an AVR please

Background:

I'm putting together a new HT system in a room I'm having added onto the house. I plan to have a projector, 5.1 surround, HDTV, and XBOX360. System will primarily be used for TV, movies, and games (in that order). The room is 17'6 by 15'8 and will be used for more than a HT. I want small, satellite-type speakers all around mounted in the corners. I'd like a 1080p projector with ~100" screen. In the AVR, I'd like 2 HDMI inputs and upscaling to HDMI output. Video is more important to me than audio. I've budgetted $3k for projector and about $500 for AVR and $500 for speakers. Another $1k for everything else.

--------------------------------

I'd like an AVR that can perform HDMI switching and upscale from my current DVD player to 1080p (or close). Oh, and I'd also really like auto-setup. What would you recommend for around $500, give or take? Is there a good HTIB that would have what I'd like in a AVR? Audio isn't as important to me right now so I'm cool with high-lower end speakers.

Thanks,
Jason

Re: Help me choose an AVR please

I was looking at the Onkyo HT-SR800 Home Entertainment 7.1. Anyone know if that receiver and speaker set is any good?

Thanks,
Jason

Re: Help me choose an AVR please

I would definately not purchase an all in one or HTIB. If you could up your budget on the projector to around 3.3k then the Sony Pearl could be had. You will not find many if any front projectors that can compete with the Pearl for anything near that price point. You will need to purchase a screen but I did not see any budget for this. Try www.carada.com. There screens are top notch and a great company to deal with. My custom intaller was very impressed with my 106" screen and he sells Stewarts.

Check out receivers from Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha and HK.

I am afraid you are out of luck if you want to find a 5.1 speaker set up for $500. Try to up your budget hear or start off with a 2.1 system and build from there.
