Any way to cool down the Onkyo 805?

So I just got the Onkyo 805, mostly for it's HDMI switching capabilities and the excellent Audyssey setup, but this thing runs way, way hotter than I expected. It's like having an industrial room heater. Is there any way to get the thing to run cooler? If I used an external amplifier, is there a way to shut off the internal amp?

If not, does the Denon 2807 run any cooler?

Jonathan,

I had the 605 and that one ran hot -- I can only imagine the 805! (I've since returned it and am trying the Yamaha 661.) I don't know about your amp or Denon questions, but a lot of owners of the 805 are using cooling fans laying on top of the 805 at AVS forum.

I run a Denon 2307 and it doesn't run hot

Post your speaker type - maybe they are inefficient and the amp runs hotter due to this factor - maybe they are lower Ohm rating than the amp can handle

How much room do you have above and around the receiver?

What are your listening levels?
