Yamaha's Zone 2 Feature?

I just purchased Yamaha's RX-V659 receiver. Can anyone tell me if I can control the source and volume of zone 2 independently of zone 1 and operate them both at the same time....but independently, right out of the box without additional hardware? The in instructions are very confusing! Thanks for the info.

Well, I can't comment on the RX-V659, but I do have the Yamaha RX-V1600, and yes I can control the Zone 2 volume independently from the main Zone. It even has a second remote just for Zone 2.

Yes you can control the source and volume of zone 2 independently of zone 1 and operate them both at the same time. It requires that you run a second analog connection for each componant that you want to use in zone 2. You can also program the remote to work zone 2.
