Denon sub problem

Hi. I have a denon 2807 and a powered sub in a 5.1 arrangement.

Now, when I am in some sort of pro logic setup I will get sound from the sub. If I go to a 2 channel mode then I get nothing from the sub. It is set for LFE plus Main.

I really like listening to 2 channel stereo. Since my mains are bookshelves I have them set to small so they need a sub.

Does anyone know how to get the sub to work in a 2.1 setup? When I put it in that mode, the graphic on the display shows 2 speakers and a sub. When I hit the OSD, it says format 2/0/0.

Pulling my hair out....

Thanks.

Rob

You have to enter the subwoofer settings specifically for the "2 Ch. Direct / Stereo" mode. See the manual (page 52):

http://usa.denon.com/AVR-2807-OM-English-EU.pdf

The settings are under the System Setup/Advanced Playback/2 Ch. Direct / Stereo menu.

Excellent. Thanks.

I'll try it when I get home.

Re: Denon sub problem

Are your main speakers set to large?

FYI: There is NO LFE with 2ch material by definition... So check your 2ch settings as mentioned and also take a look at your speaker settings. What happens if you play a DVD that has a DD or DTS 5.1 track? Does that sound correct? Does it properly display DD/DTS or does it go into Prologic or another DSP mode? If it goes into PL/PLII then you may have a configuration problem.

Re: Denon sub problem

I went through there a few times and didnt see the problem.

Speakers were set to large.

I set them to small with lfe+main and they started working fine.

Thanks Guys.
