Denon AVR on screen volume display?
I have a Denon AVR-2106 which I use to do component switching. I can see the volume level on screen if I'm in a menu, or on a non-component source. Is there any way to get the volume to display across all sources?

Re: Denon AVR on screen volume display?
All sources would have to pass through and be switched by the receiver for that to happen. Are you saying it doesn't display for component sources? Mine only gives me a "bar" indicator, not a numerical one, so it isn't useful to me, plus I don't like running video through my receiver.

Re: Denon AVR on screen volume display?
Yeah, all my sources are running and switched through my AVR, to my tv using Component all the way. I have an input which is just audio, no video for an mp3 player I have hooked up, and I can see the volume displayed that way. I may have to call Denon and ask them, problem is that it usually takes about 15 minutes on hold to get through to them, but they are usually really nice guys. But I'm afraid the response I will get will be "You cant view the volume using component". Ugh. the display on the AVR is too small for me to see. And the manual doesn't mention the volume display at all. I wish it were a setting I could override.

Re: Denon AVR on screen volume display?
Now when you say switching, you mean you have only one component "monitor" out to the receiver or you have different outputs for various types of sources? Does this model to video transcoding to the component out?

Re: Denon AVR on screen volume display?
my 360, my Wii, and my DVR are connected into my receiver all using component inputs. I have one set of components using the output into my tv. Everything is sent into the component output.

Re: Denon AVR on screen volume display?
Jean,
This is actually normal. When you are using a source that does not provide a video input to your AVR, the AVR's video output information (i.e. menu information) can be outputed. However, when you use a source that does have a video input to your AVR, it takes precedence over your AVR's own video output. From what I gather, you are looking to have your AVR's video information overlay the video information from your video sources. Unfortunately, I do not believe this feature is available on the AVR-2106.

Re: Denon AVR on screen volume display?
That's a shame then, because that's exactly what I'd like to accomplish.

Can you get a magnifying prism to put over your AVR's volume display, or get a pair of binoculars or spotting scope?
Just kidding. I agree, it could be a neat feature to be able to turn on and off as needed. One of my earlier receivers had a red led as part of the volume knob so at a glace I had an idea of the volume level. Now with volume knobs that you can turn 360 many times, that wouldn't be helpful.
However, during movies I often change the volume to better hear voices and turn down loud action scenes (sleeping babies upstairs) so having that displayed all the time might get annoying!

I agree, but if you (can) set your mute level to a set level you know to be "safe", it could be a quick tap of a button.
