Receiver Recommendation Please

Hi

I am looking for a 7.1 receiver for my setup:

Samsung DLP (720P)
Ascend 7.0 speakers
HSU sub
Oppo 970 DVD Player
HD Cable Box

I would just like something to adequately power my speakers and provide support for my other components. I am not sure if audio/video "passthrough" is necessary. I don't mind running separate cables if sound quality is equal. I may be misinformed about hdmi but thats the only advantage I see, especially since I don't have a 1080p display. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Any of the Yammy, Denon or Pioneer will work. Just get one that has ~100 watts/ch and the connections/bells you want. You can get a great AVR for <500 bucks.

the receiver in Greg's signature is a good one to look at, or even the replacement 661 that is just hitting the market.

both can be had for under $500 if you are sticking to a budget.
