Possible problem with Denon AVR 1403

Greetings,

Occasionally I’ve experienced an odd problem with my receiver where the volume control will autonomously increase to 100% without anyone in the house touching the remote controls.

This seems to happen about once per month and I can’t reproduce the problem - it seems to be completely random.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Could I be picking up a signal from one of my neighbors?

Thanks

Re: Possible problem with Denon AVR 1403

I saw this happen with an $800 Onkyo receiver at Circuit City last year. Unfortunately I was the one playing with it so when it happened (as I was standing about 8 feet away in the middle of the demo 5.1 system) everyone looked at me. So I showed them my empty hands to show them I had nothing to do with it. At the same time I ran up and turned it down but then about a minute later it did it again. I turned off the receiver this time and left the area!

Some of my gears' manuals state that fluorescent lamps may distort a remote control's infrared signal enough to "confuse" the receiving equipment's infrared sensor - I'm wondering if this had something to do with my experience i.e. the store's very bright fluorescent lighting did something to the receiver.
