Pioneer VSX1016TXVK/Question

If anyone here has this receiver I'd be very interested in hearing from you on how you have hooked it up to your system
I have a Toshiba HD DVD ,DirectV HD DVR, Sony KDL 40 XBR3.I realize that I have to connect an optical link as well as HDMI.
My question is What would I have to connect to be able to just watch the the TV without the receiver being on.?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Connect your DirectV HD DVR directly to your TV with HDMI and optical (for audio) to your reciever. You'll lose the convenience of receiver switching but this can get fixed with a better remote (Logitech Harmony) that you can program to automatically switch your TV inputs when needed and "turn off" your TV speakers when using the receiver.
