Denon and HDMI upconversion

Hello

I recently bought a Denon 2307ci AVR - it provides composite, S Vid, Component and HDMI

I have a 32" Viewsonic LCD as my TV
DVD = Pioneer DVD recorder
SAT = ExpressVu 9200 High Def PVR
Game system - original XBOX

So i hooked up the AVR to the TV using HDMI
DVD to the AVR using Component
DVD to the SAT using Composite (no S VID on the SAT box)
SAT to the AVR using HDMI
XBOX to the AVR using S Video

IT ALL WORKS!!!

no more TV input switching! all done through the AVR!

2 big benefits to this

1. more simplistic for other users of the system
2. Only 1 video cable to run through the wall (HDMI) - from the wall mounted LCD to the AVR

I have read about this HDMI handshake problem where switching sources causes you to reboot 1 of the devices - this is not happening to me - i switched from TV to DVD and back again - no issues

I am extremely happy with this setup

I'm guessing that you must not have read the Denon manual.....elsewise you'd probably still be futzing with things

Sounds nice...congradulations

Cool, you may wanna upgrade the XBOX to a component cable and games should look even better.

Re: Denon and HDMI upconversion

It's the old Xbox right? cause I have the monster component outs for the regular xbox. Perhaps we could work out a deal. I upgraded to the 360 a few months back and dont really need them anymore...or the Xbox for that matter.

I actually need some sort of component switching device (under $80), however, I dont want any such device to do any kind of converting or scaling of the original image (which is why I cant use the Denon unless theres a way to turn off its scaling). I also need a remote so I can program macros into my remote control to do the switching automatically. anyone have any ideas?
