Anyone here used the RS 40watt PA amps?

Hey gang, been a while since I've posted but I got a nice deal this weekend on some amps, just wondering if anyone had any experience/info on them.

Radio Shack 40 Watt PA Amplifier

A local RS is going out of business and had everything 60-80% off so I dropped by to stock up on <$.99 cables/connectors etc and saw 2 of the amps for ~$39 down around $99 each. Snagged em.

I've tested them running some decent 3way speakers with 8in woofers from my bedroom system and the sound is really nice. Using 1 amp per speaker. I also plan to use them for ad-hoc PA use (weddings, parties, etc) if the situation for some weekend cash arises.

Well enough rambling, I do have a question. Since these are mono devices (I'm assuming it merges the left/right signal from the inputs into a mono output to the speaker), Should I use a Y-cable on the aux input to make sure both the L/R inputs get a signal from my source? I'm doing that now and I sounds great, just wondering if its going to cause some sort of distortion or the like receiving the same signal to each channel.
