sansui 9090...last questions

some guy said it has poor bass preformance, those who have had experience with this receiver what do you think about that? Also can you recomend a70s receiver that is even better and more nice sounding than this one?

Lastly on older receivers where you have phono and auxilary, could you use these for other applications like if you had a plug to run you computer sound out into a receiver (plug has one end for the soundcard and two red and white wires for the receiver) or run the television sound to the receiver using either the phono aux or tape plugins on the back of old receivers like this?
If so can you do it with regular old red and white audio cords?
thanks
matt

Re: sansui 9090...last questions

The damping factor of Sansui receivers from that era was something like 50 - 100 or so. Damping factor is inverseley related to what's known as output impedance. If the DF becomes really low (output impedance becomes high) then what happens is that the frequency response of the receiver into a speaker load becomes contoured and has a similar shape to the speaker's impedance curve. In your case, this is something I just wouldn't worry about. It's a non-issue. If you like the receiver, it's in good external and apparently internal shape, can get it for a good price, and so forth, just buy it.

From my memory the damping factor of the 9090 was far lower than what was normal for that time. I remember it as being rated at 10.
