Need quick input on this used system for sale

A guy on a local automotive board just put this Kenwood system up for sale. I'm at work and don't have time to research, so I thought I'd put this up for people more familiar w/ the equipment. Currently I have NOTHING but a Panasonic DVD player and a 36" Sony Wega.

Quote:
Trying to get rid of this so I don't have to pack it out when I move.

Comes with:
KE-597 EQ
KX-W597 DUAL TAPE DECK
KR-797 SURROUND SOUND RECEIVER
DP-R797 5 DISC CD PLAYER
2 Tall speakers, with I believe 12" subs in them
2 small rear surround speakers
1 center channel speaker

This setup is a few years old and has never really been cranked up since I have little kids. It has always been inside of an entertainment center so it doesn't get all dirty and dusty. I may even still have all the original books for each piece.

Asking $250
What do you think? Decent deal? Good enough stuff considering I have no equipment at all right now?

Thanks so much in advance!!!

Tim

I would pass. I did not look this up but it seems to be an older set-up. You could do better on E-bay or on this forum. What is your budget?

No real budget at this point; I just saw this, it was cheap, and wanted to jump on it if it was a good deal. I've been living for 2rys here w/ no setup at all, so I don't need anything ASAP. Getting married next month, so really all $$$ is going to that. Hopefully after that is all settled I can get serious about things like this. I was thinking of something like an entry-level Onkyo package for under $1k.

Thanks for the advice!!
