Sound problem with Pioneer VSX-912

Yesterday I watched a movie with no sound problems. Today I turn my system on and I'm getting a nasty staccoto sound coming from my center channel and rear surrounds through my Fluance speakers. If I switch to stereo, the problem goes away. I've tried different DVDs with the same result. I suspect my Pioneer receiver has gone bad, but I'm not sure how to diagnose the problem. Ideas would be appreciated.

sounds like a speaker wire might be lose on the back of the rec. i suggest checking all the connections , it may as small as a single strand touching another wire or terminal, then check all connections on each speaker... hope this helps.
