Temperature of the Denon 2805

How hot does the 2805 run? Should I expect to put this on the top of my rack, or can I put it at the bottom, with other equipment stacked above it?

Hmm, I would just make sure it has all the breathing room indicated in the manual at a minimum. I gave my Denon 4802 generous space compared to what was in the manual.

7 high current amps you know..

I am using a Denon 2105 (less power than yours, I know), and I keep about 5" cleared above, 2" on either side, and 4" in the rear with air holes in the cabinet, and it runs cooler than the Marantz S580 that preceeded it...

I've got the 3805 in a cabinet with slightly more clearance than Derek and even after a few hours of near reference level movies or music, it's only slightly warm to the touch.
I'd still put it on the top vs a bottom shelf.
