My venerable workhorse Pioneer VSX-14 has developed an annoying bug that causes it to shut off intermittantly. It only used to happen while watching TV (TiVo) but the symptom has now cropped up while using my Toshiba 5900 DVD player.
All the connections are tight in back...but lifting the front of the receiver up an inch and dropping it down (heresy I know !) actually gets the receiver back on. Both picture and sound are affected by these "shutdowns" It's as if the receiver shuts itself off-but the standby light doesnt come on.
What with the 1014TX going for around $400...is it a no -brainer to simply upgrade..or it is worth looking into a repair? If so..anyone have any experienced shops in Massachusetts they can recommend?
Thanks for reading and for any help. Have a safe and Happy New year too
