Denon 5805 Flagship, Race for the facts.
Hi,If any group of people can help me out you can.
I'm having a spirited discussion eslewhere regarding (not the upconverting to component) but the actual scaling of coyright protected material (like Spiderman) to 1080i or 720p from a DVD player set to 480i interlaced through the Denon 5805 which has a Faroudja DCDI scaling chip.
My contention is that component is analog and does not fall under HDCP guideline also no one is trying to copy spiderman (that would be to easy) we just want to use the Faroudja DCDI chip in the Denon 5805 and scale it to 1080i or 720p to watch it.
Everything in my other discussion so far is conjecture so what we need is a smoking gun.
Example:1: I have seen it done or have seen it unsuccessfully tried to be done.
2: The Denon Rep assured me that it could or couldn't be done.
The mighty weight of :WIDESCREENREVIEW probably has a definitive answer or knows where to find it.
If the answer is no Faroudja DCDI chips must be a dime a dozen to waste them in this Flagship. You would be better off getting 2 previously enjoyed Denon 5803's whether you had zone issues or Bi-amping needs. It would probably be close to half the price for a savvy shopper,
Anyway, we can save lots of space to argue the merits of the definitive answer when we have it.
Thanks everyone,
Peter m.
