Cleaning components question
Hello all. I am deploying a trusted but still perfectly working Sony TA-E9000ES. The unit's outer casework [i.e. face, casework etc.] has some smudges and just needs to be cleaned. What do you all recommend to use as cleaning solution[s] to bring back some sort of sheen to it? Thanks in advance.

For cleaning smudges, generally any glass cleaner will work fine, though isopropyl alcohol is even better. If cleaning the faceplate doesn't bring back any sheen, you could try some kind of polish. Believe it or not, furniture type polish such as Pledge will add sheen, as will automotive type polishes like Armor All.

Armor All should never be used on any painted surface, and I would not recommend it for electronics. IPA, mild dishsoap or glass cleaner should work fine.

Try computer cleaning foam. Removes grime- but not too strong like solvent-based liquids that'll damage or remove transfers etc.

A plain microfiber cloth with a small amount of water will get most anything off there that doesn't belong and will not add anything that doesn't belong.

IPA = Isopropyl Alcohol. It is commonly used in cleaning of components during manufacturing, so it should be fine.
