Which Yamaha

Hello guys, I just purchased two Cerwin Vega CLSC-12 tower speakers. Now I need a reciever but I want surround. So I am looking at the Yamaha HTR-5760 or the Yamaha HTR-5790. The 5790 has a few more watts but it's alot more money. What do you guys think?

The Cerwin Vegas are more efficient than most speakers – which means they put out a lot of volume for the watts you feed them. In light of that, it probably isn’t worth it in your situation to spring for the 5790 – unless it has other features you want or need.

Keep in mind, the HTR-5790 features an EQ which might benefit you in resolving some sound limitations in the room you have your system setup in. While the 5760 that I had didn't have the EQ, it was still very good when it came to sounding great.

i liked the 5790 better, but the 5760 seemed like it was anewer model/setup in menus and remote control functions than the 5760.

The 5790 sounded better to me though.

Is the 5790 the THX model? I have been looking at that very seriously. Right now I have the 5650, and was wondering, if anyone has heard both and, if so, is it worth the upgrade?

it does have THX, the 5760 does not. ive heard both on the same set of speakers: jbl e60, and with no bass/treble processing or eqing, the 5790 had a much fuller low end.(hz)
